After the Norman Conquest English was replaced for a while by the Anglo-Norman/Anglo-Norman French( A relative of French ), this was the end of Old English and Middle English, influenced by the Anglo-Norman. Middle English was aided by the invention of the Printing Press by Johannes Gutenberg so after a long, long, long period Modern English came and is used right now.
