A fish called the Chel snakehead, which scientists thought was extinct for 85 years, has been found again in India. This fish, known as Channa amphibeus, was last seen between 1918 and 1933, leading to the belief that it had gone extinct. but in 2024 , Researchers including Jayasimhan Praveenraj and Tejas Thackeray from the Thackeray Wildlife Foundation found the fish on the banks of the Chel River in Kalimpong, North Bengal, India
